apple puss

that's what august calls an octopus. he has an apple puss song.
nothing new going on. we haven't left the house since sunday and it's kind of nice. i don't plan on going anywhere until saturday morning, to the ap meeting. jj is working 12 hour shifts, and i have houston 3 1/2 days this week, so i'm keeping busy. yesterday we had sydney and his mom over to play for a few hours. they brought gus a baking set for his new kitchen. it's really nice because everything is "real" but for smaller hands. the cookie sheets and pans are just like my good ones, and it has a wooden spoon and rolling pin. fun! he 'baked' for hudson last night but protested when i tried to take his picture while he had his apron on.
we've been doing lots of activities like extensive playdoh work, reading for fun instead of constantly "learning" (this sounds awful but it is hard to not stop and ask what color this is and how many of those, etc) cutting up food, making letters out of things....
i am not in the habit of buying sweets, so we just don't keep them in the house and it isn't an issue of denying gus anything. however, i found a secret stash of candy HMMM i wonder who that belongs to? after gus ate his dinner i offered some contraband smarties which i know contain red #40, but i knew his reaction would be priceless and he did not disappoint. he ate each one and crunched it for the sound effects.
he just got over his sugar high and was helping me fold socks. he put on jj's work socks and they go up to his hips...very cute. after the bath time i burped, excused myself, and then he proceded to start burping the alphabet! again HMMM i wonder where that comes from. i smiled but just said excuse you, per our ususal routine, but it was so hard not to laugh. i never knew toddlers were so funny.

My ex-girlfriend's son also said 'apple puss' in place of octopus, which I found absolutely hilarious! Kids are fun when they mispronounce words...
