holiday prep

we had our James thanksgiving yesterday and my side is coming on sunday, so i got to work today a little bit. hudson is working hard on that tooth so he helped me cut up carrots. as i dried them on a towel i noticed how lovely they looked. the color and light in the kitchen were awesome. i also made the potatoes and they are all in the fridge. our menu is honey glazed carrots, party potatoes, broccoli casserole, honey glazed ham, stuffing, rolls, scalloped corn and apple crisp. enough for 5 adults and one little dude? so, leftovers served at five on monday if you're hungry.

we put up the tree and assorted decor today. because of my fear of clutter i took half of it down as soon as i put it up. i'm just planning ahead for the assault of holiday themed crafts and painting gus will do and i just have to display that, too. as soon as houston is back and i'm not feeling frazzled we will all craft together. i adored everything august brought home from his days at salvation army, even if the teachers did most of it.

there is so much to do this weekend that i just said NO to lots of things in order to focus on my boys and keeping our routines as much as possible. tomorrow will bring chaos, no matter what i do to prepare, so today we skipped parades and consumerism in favor of staying in. jeremy is at work *sniff* so i'm a little lonely. i think it will be craft night though, since gus is asleep. i'm making Grandma's Spaghetti since it's friday. yum yum yum yum yum yum.
