ow ow ow

my legs and ankles are throbbing. ktd and i took the dudes to black partridge to play in the woods. it's perfect, really, because there isn't anyone else there, and the trails are fairly easy. i remember them from cross country. plus, there is a stream at the bottom and fishies to see. it was a fun day though, all for gus. he is such a good sport about hudson being little and needy that i felt he would enjoy a day out. we had mexican food for lunch, then after the hike we stopped by grandma's for a sugar rush. he kept asking for more sss (another kiss) from her as we were leaving. after dinner he wasnt tired. at all. and my list was a mile long due to playing all day. i was so hoping to make it two days without tv but i let him watch dora so i could mop the floor. what SHOULD have happened is that i could have waited until after he went to bed! alas, oh obsessive-compulsiveness....how thy(thine?) grip is tight..........
it worked out because i got a text from ktb, so she came over for drinks. good thing i got that floor mopped ahead of time, then. poor gus wanted to come out and play but it was late so i made him stay in bed. i feel bad about that but he isn't used to a lot of noise downstairs. he is still getting use to the freedom of his new bed. he was a little upset, but he settled down. good chatting with kt! we saw an awesome meteor, so big that we waited for the boom and the end of the world. i'm glad that it didnt end yet so we can drink beer outside on a crisp fall night again sometime.
