walmart

or "walmart's" for you country folk :-) i have been very anti- for over a year. that doesn't mean i never went there, i just seriously limited what we bought there and how often we went there. i tend to shy away from big box places (except for target) and i don't like how they treat their employees. i personally know one who has worked with the company in two different regions of the country for over a decade. plus, once upon a time, jj worked for a company that worked for walmart when they expanded to all supercenters. he got to see a lot behind the scenes.

my point is, i went there last night. i normally do all of our grocery shopping at kroger since i know the store well (used to work there) and they have a good selection of organic and natural foods. the stuff i stock up on is getting more and more expensive, and the sales on those things are getting farther inbetween. i got the natural stuff i needed and left. walmart, however, beat even the sale price on some things. i still don't like to buy meat or produce there but i will do our groceries there from now on again. i do support the underdog, but kroger is far from it. if they want to charge more, i'll let them but my duty is family first, then other issues...and if we want to continue our lifestyle the way it is, i need to stick to the budget. furthermore, i went to NY with a list and they didn't have ONE THING on my list. i have to be crafty with my time since i am alone with the kids most of the time and hudson still nurses every other hour. i do not want to make three stops. doesn't all of this sound so mom-ish?? it kind of sucks to find out that these things do matter. i just have to keep my priorities straight. and i need to remember to bring my bags along next time. oops.
