labor day

what a complex weekend. it was soooo good for us. jeremy has been working long hours so i was determined to fill the weekend with relaxing and simple activities, as well as downtime to connect. it ended up working beautifully. we are growing and changing. hudson is getting so much better, even from a week ago. gone-bib 24/7. gone-hysteria after feeding and puking...just like clockwork, at six months, poof! gus was the same way. how awesome.
saturday we worked on our room at a relaxed pace. we did the bulk of childproofing for hudson cosleeping. the bed is on the floor, and it doesn't look too college-y. i was concerned about that. once i get the beachy blinds up it will look more put-together. we just have to switch out the tv's and put up the gate. we are also preparing for august venturing up here on his own at night.
that night i cooked (made brownies too) and went down to the river to listen to the blues music and play on the playground. jj took h so i could play with gus. he was very happy. we came home and ate brownies and ice cream before bed.
sunday i had nothing planned until the cookout later in the day so when kt called i agreed it would be a nice day for a walk. we power walked the babies up and down bigelow and i got really sunburned. we had a great conversation that has sparked a new adventure for the family. i wasn't sure i wanted to even 'go there' until i talked it over with her and i think it might work for us...the cookout was good. when we are out as a family i dont think i realize there are others around. we are very close and i think i appear irritated, or 'standoffish' as my mom puts it. nevertheless, it was fun and i was in a good mood. i am proud of us.
today...drumroll...august got his big boy bed. i figured we might as well do it now. he is able to get out of the crib and i didnt' want to wait for him to get hurt to do it. besides, i found some great fabric to make a comforter and then we can redecorate......
naptime was nonexistant, which i figured. i had to gate him in there while i got h down for a nap but it's ok. we went to walmart with ktd to buy a big boy pillow tonight and he went right to bed after two stories. the phrase of the day was HEAD ON PILLOW, said gently of course! i have no expectations for this process. it will not be easy but we can handle it. i wanted to wait until we were potty learned to do it but the timing is right. he also learned how to pour his own juice and get his toothbrush ready. we are getting soooo big.
