the coolest thing ever happened today. jj and i decided to take the kids on the rock island trail and walk. we couldn't find it so we drove around from park to park, wasted a half hour and then i was angry with myself for wasting all that time when we could be outside. we finally went to the little park on mcclure that i originally wanted to go to. there were a bunch of moms with kids there, so i groaned and put h in the sling and set off for a far away picnic bench to nurse while jj played with gus. one of the moms comes over, VERY cute with a short haircut and a nosering and she says something to the effect of "we are an attachment parenting group. we are all booby people so get over here and meet us" How awesome is that!! they looked confused because they had a playgroup there today and here i was nursing in a sling and they were wondering who the heck i was. they have a community online and meet for yoga and support. the yoga instructor is a doula! i feel like an idiot for not knowing of these people before today but now that i do i am psyched to get to know them. they even have a food co-op because they "can't afford naturally yours." :-) the website is www.apipeoria.org
them reaching out to me was the best thing that has happened to me in a while! i never thought i'd be the playgroup type but it will be good for us.
