no wonder hudson hasn't been sleeping well. he has had a communication explosion. he 'sings' along with me for certain songs. he is making several animal noises/car noises. he has learned a bunch of new signs like all done, eat, and drink. also, i always put him on the potty before his bathtime to get him used to it. he usually sits for half a second, gets up and pees on the floor. last night i put him on it, he looked down, looked up at me and smiled and peed in the potty! i was so excited for him. gus came in and congratulated him and helped flush it down the toilet. i know he is a little young for it but he was around for august's PL'ing so i'm not too surprised. we'll just keep doing what we're doing. i'm sure it's because i'm in the middle of making him bigger diapers-he won't need them by the time i'm done sewing.
we hiked at the nature center today. jj wore hudson, who slept most of the way. i helped gus up the steeper steps, but he got to lead. i'm trying to be more CC when possible. it's helping me relax and not get too into my ocd issues with the kids. what this meant was letting august do his thing. he did really well. instead of worrying he would fall down the hills i left my hand out for him to hold onto, not me holding his hand. i let him climb and run and sniff, and trip a few times. we talked about how everything was brown except for a few bits of green starting. we did the long trail, about 2 miles of hills. we found an empty snail shell, some rose quartz, lots of bugs, and a grey squirrel. he likes to look at the owls in the building and hoot at them. i would go there every weekend, if i could.
i'm trying to expose the boys to nature as much as possible. at night we close our eyes and feel the sun on our faces, the wind blowing through our hair, and smell the fresh air. it's really relaxing. we have a great book that i bought just because it has some similar lines in it-plus it ends with going to sleep...
