we're poor (jeremy's on unemployment this week) so we wanted to do something fun but cheap this week to get gus out of the house. the weather has been crappy but we found a nice afternoon on thursday to have a healthy lunch and do fun things. first we went to the library since we do that every thursday so gus can play with the puzzles and i can renew my knitting book. i'm almost done with the sweater. i checked out several books for august and hudson since we've been doing a lot of reading. in fact, wednesday jj and i spent all of hudson's birthday money on books for him and we got some good stuff-Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel was a favorite of mine when little so i hope it will be one of their's, too.
anyway after the library we went over to lakeview museum to look around their store and explore the childrens' area. august thought that store was the best thing since sliced bread. he is so good at stores and doesn't get into anything. he plays and touches things but is very careful. i love taking him in new places because he is all "Look mommy! Look!" about everything. he understood most of the exhibits, even though they were for older kids. his favorite was the wind machine and the air pressure/space suit demonstrator. i explained that releasing the pressure was like when he burps and it releases the pressure in his tummy. he thought that was pretty cool. hudson watched everything from the beco on jj's back. he was tired but interested in all the new sights.
we have all been spoiled by the warm weather a few weeks ago and now it's frustrating for the boys that we can't go outside and play. i've been building lots of forts, fingerpainting (even with the daycare baby) and playing playdoh. one thing i have not done is start sorting stuff for our garage sale. time to unload!
