i can't focus today. i had that problem last night, too. i'm tired as usual due to hudson waking at 5am. his nap was 20 minutes this morning on jeremy while i was showering. i really wanted to work on a diaper but i couldn't wrap my head around the construction. it was overwhelming, like how i used to feel when i was learning something new in math class. however, i really wanted to sew something, to get in a groove for the day. i decided to make a pair of pants for august out of the rest of some cars fabric i had sitting around. they are pretty tight and slim fitting pants due to not a lot of fabric, but they look so cute on him. i made them boot cut so they look like yoga pants. the print is ugly but he LOVES it.
it only took me like half an hour to make them, then he put them on and had to go outside to ride his tractor and show the neighbor his new pants. he showed everyone. we went on a short walk and then paraded up and down the block. i'd add the pic right now but the camera is in h's room. august asked me to take his picture on the big camera and then one on my phone to send to daddy.
after the boys went to bed i cut up an old cereal box to make a pattern for hudson's diapers. i really like the tiny tush brand, so i copied as best i could. i will not make them one-size, though, so no snaps needed. the liner is super soft microfleece. i like that better than suedecloth. i have never enjoyed making diapers but once i get it right it will pay off big time. i have gotten 3/4 of the way done, ran out of elastic for the back and need to topstitch. i wish i had money for more fabric. i want to make a new bag.
