made lemonade

out of lemons, so to speak. today flew by because i was thinking ahead to what i was going to eat at each snack and meal. when i don't overeat i find that i enjoy the next mealtime more and i appreciate what i'm eating instead of just chowing down. plus, i managed to work it out indoors. we made sugar cookies today. it took all day, and i haven't had one yet. i had an assortment of recipes to use and i picked the one with the least amount of ingredients. gus squished the egg like he always does and then i picked out the shells while he licked raw egg goo off his fingers. he didn't understand why the dough had to chill in the fridge for a few hours though, poor dude. later when i was going to roll it out and discovered i had no rolling pin he wasn't interested because i didn't want him to eat the dough. i flattened it out nicely, thank you, with my hands. i got an A in my college ceramics class. h was very needy today so i had to bake with him in the sling. he had to be held through both naps today. **praying that was a one day thing***
it took me forever to make the icing and color it. finally, at 5, we were icing them. i gave gus three to decorate. i don't let him have red dye so i kept it over by me and he managed to sneak a little bit of red on a gingerbread dude. when i discovered it he ate the leg off. i love his logic. within five minutes he was NUTS. people roll their eyes at my OCD regarding food dye but seriously, if you would have witnessed it tonight it's striking...i will continue being a meanie about it. he was very loving and sweet, just at 110 mph.
hudson went to bed at 630 and gus helped me fold laundry and played until he went to bed at 730. for the first time in a long time he didnt' want me to stay with him and sing! i was sad. he said go bye bye mama. night night. and i got a "shoo" motion, too. :-(
