it wasn't so bad. i roasted a chicken and we played with blocks. august separated them by color. i wish i had a picture of that because it was gorgeous. he and i shared a piece of the pumpkin pie he and grandma bus made yesterday. on election night i made him a hemp doll to keep my hands busy, and also because he didn't have a doll. i haven't put a face on it or made clothes for it yet, and i assumed he wouldn't pay too much attention to it. however, he calls it Bill or Joe or BillJoe depending on his mood. when i went in to cover him up an hour ago he and JoeBill were snuggled up and it made me smile.
i made hudson a christmas owl, but it turned out to be a sick day owl. august thought it was neat and when i was starting it out by handsewing the eyes and beak thing on the brown flannel he knew it was going to be an owl from just those pieces. i was plannning on putting it away to give to hudson at christmas but he loved playing with it! the contrast of the eyes really kept his attention this evening. i promise that pic isn't staged at all! notice august's outfit. i put the pants on and had him choose his shirt. he said it was "same." good boy! he had rosy red cheeks and was extra lovey tonight, so i think his runny nose is on the way, too.

i love the owl guy!
i woke up to lots of abnormal cough, coughing in the monitor. She's still sleeping so I'm wondering how the day will go.....
what pattern do you use for the doll and owl? The owl is so cute!!!! I hope that Hudson feels better soon...
i made my own pattern for them. the doll's proportions are wacked and i'm embarassed of it. the owl was easy but i like to hand sew. i can send it to you in the mail if you want it. it's not really a pattern, just a sketch i cut up.
