another first

houston "called in sick" so i had the day off. i chose to clean and get a few errands done. i went out to lunch with anna while hudson snoozed all cuddled up in the sling. he finally cut his first tooth overnight. he has been biting while nursing (ow) and if i so much as wince then whomever is near me has to try to convince me to wean him. it's annoying, almost as annoying as being bitten. so there's another thing i'm not allowed to mention. anyhoo, poor babe was a huge mess tonight. he woke from his nap while i was fighting with UHC about a hospital bill that will take all of our christmas money and he didn't stop until after 6. i held him while he cried, through making gus dinner which he did not eat. i sat him in my lap while he cried and i bathed gus with one hand. he sat next to me and cried while i put on gus' pajamas.
then i got out the motrin. i have only given it to him twice in his life. i am anti. it's full of flavoring and nastiness that makes him "wired" instead of solving the problem. however, he has his amber teething necklace on, had taken several teething tablets, and the magic boobs weren't even working anymore so i knew it was time for the big guns.
he quieted down a little so gus and i wrote letters (he can spell and read his name!!! and MOM too!!!) and then it was fussy time again so i got in bed and snuggled with him. august just got a major diaper rash and runny nose about a week before he would cut a tooth, and wake up at night. i don't know what's worse.
